Here's the 10 best DAWs on the market right now: Whether you're just starting a song, or about to reach that final mastering step, you'll need music recording software to make your vision into a reality. there was no need to pull what they did with m2 and updaters for k9(u) and prevent the installers and software from running on certain systems by setting the app to restrict use in the package ist when in fact they ran fine as i tested and found by use, in fact better than on the target systems.A DAW or Digital Audio Workstation is the software program you use to create your music.ĭAWs have made music creation more accessible than ever before-and they’re only getting more powerful! It is as well not that difficult for a major company to release software that still works on legacy systems but is officially unsupported in regards to tech support.

it is not very difficult to send your users a news update email with your mission plan instead of just abstract cinematic preview video clips that completely misrepresents a product by making it look like you become Superproducer if you use them. show some respect and professional courtesy towards your customers.

I think it would better if they simply announced, like they did for support for kore in regards to the next to OS releases, that they will discontinue support for a system or format at the end of a year: like a news release that stated that at the end of 2014, or starting january 2015, NI will no longer produce 32 bit versions as well as officially support OS versions instead of suddenly doing so with a new major product persons have been looking forward to for a year.Īpple's methods are no longer working and they have lost the tablet and phone market as the iPad is no longer selling due to their being so KONtrolling, though apple did make news releases well in advance before the release of new products in regards to their requirements and as well well in advance when they dropped support for something with their computers, please do not repeat the same mistake NI, just because they appeared to have some temporary success at being "tech bullies". Some of the 64bit plug ins do still work as 32bit as they are "universal", but they only list them as 64bit. The work around of course is to simple duplicate the apps and set one in 32 bit and the other copy in 64 bit. they do not have to support legacy use as far as offering tech support, but as a convenience to their loyal users they should still permit it to work. and NI should not be pulling an "apple" by forcing this.

I do plan on moving to 64 bit eventually, when i can have 64bit samples and files and processing in a daw and sound cards that are at that rate, but it just is not needed now. i like my old duo core one with 10.6 better.

i had to already spend $2.5k on a new mac pro laptop i did not need just for NI software. for example, kinetic and the other libs and plugs that are new for k10.u currently support 10.7. and there was no change to the way 10.8 handles audio over 10.7, so the requirements are completely unnecessary except to make thing difficult for people to force them to do updates or upgrades before they want to. vst is a protocol that does not change with 10.10 even.

in fact i may entirely pass on the whole k10u because of this and use the money saved to get more analog hardware as the cost for me to upgrade my computer, mac pro, with 2 independent xeon multicore processors, 32bit efi but 64 bit processing, and sound card just to cater to NI for k10u would be $10k.

The reality is that i would choose not to purchase the s k kboards over discontinuing being able to use 32bit vst plugs. this would of course change if i started to use 32 to 64bit, provided that support in the future exists for 64bit audio, and 32 to 64 bit large files samples and work in with that audio format, which, when i can get a 32 or 64 bit sound card, i may then have a need. i still use 32 bit vst plugs i have no plans on abandoning, but besides that, i just never do anything that needs more than 4g of ram given to a single audio app. currently have no need for 64 bit at all as i am not doing cinematic work where i am rendering video and audio at the same time.
